Vegan Shoes Get Sexy For Fall!

olsen Vegan Shoes Get Sexy For Fall!

We at PeaceKeeper have fallen truly, madly, deeply in love with New York’s Olsenhaus!  This fall, the popular vegan shoe brand is showing a lineup that proves to be as sexy and stylish as they are cruelty-free.

The philosophy behind Olsenhaus is the universal connection between all life forms; “how animals are treated,” writes designer Elizabeth Olsen (pictured at top), “is a reflection of mankind’s evolutionary state…when one being suffers, we all suffer consciously and subconsciously.”  This moral mission is reflected in the craftsmanship of the shoes, which are made entirely from recycled materials and organic fabrics.

To get a look at the Olsenhaus fall lookbook (and to raise awareness of animal rights), visit the brand’s official website!  If fall’s too far away for your liking, there’s still time to check out Olsen’s Spring/Summer collection, full of sexy strappy sandals and funky high heels (like the one pictured below)!

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

We here at PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics would like to officially welcome you to the FIRST BLOG OF SUMMER!

And what’s “afoot” in NYC this Summer?  Why, SANDALS, of course!  Now is the time to show off those perfectly pedicured tootsies– and if you need help showing them off, why not try PeaceKeeper’s Mani-Pedi Prep Kit?

Go ahead, click to order.  We’ll wait.  You bought it?  Excited for all those great vegan nontoxic nail products, right?  Right!  Okay, back to the blog…

Sandals are the must-have summer accessory, and now, thanks to Simple Shoes, they’re a great way to live the green life!  Dedicated to making 100% sustainable products, Simple Shoes uses materials like organic cotton, bamboo, hemp, recycled carpet padding, and car tires (among other things) to make comfortable shoes that  make you feel gorgeous every time you take a step!

Here’s a taste of their latest collections:

How perfectly Summer-chic are these “TeeTOE” gladiator sandals?  And guess what–they’re VEGAN!  The straps are organic cotton and the sole is made from cork, latex, and recycled car tires!  If that’s not living green, we don’t know what is.

These “Tantan” sandals are made of leather from an eco-certified tannery–and since Simple Shoes believes in fair labor practices, they’re worth buying over those Forever 21 sweatshop-made ‘pleather’ sandals you’ve been eyeing (it’s cool, we all have!)

Simple Shoes makes fantastic bags too!  This “Combover” messenger is made from organic cotton (VEGAN!) and has all the pockets you will ever need–including a seriously cushioned one for your laptop.

Loomstate’s Eco-Friendly Party–plus, how YOU can be eco-friendly with PeaceKeeper!

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Earth Month is almost over, but we here at PeaceKeeper still want to let all of YOU know how other companies have been going sustainable!

On April 14, eco-friendly fashion line Loomstate threw a party to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.  The main attraction?  A 40-man drum circle led by Japanese noise-rock musician Hisham Bharoocha.

“Earth consciousness doesn’t really have to be a drag,” explained Loomstate designer Scott Hahn.  “[We’re trying to] find new ways to speak to people.  There’s a lot that can come from, you know, sharing and energy and inspiration.  It’s hard to ask people to change; it’s better to inspire them to change.”

The party, hosted by Hahn and his design partner Rogan Gregory (known for the socially conscious fashion company EDUN) also featured a light show, a face-painting booth, and a 20-foot pyramid installation designed by jewelry designer Pamela Love.  The drum circle was set up around the pyramid; guests were encouraged to bring their own instruments.

Bharoocha said that the circle was a modern interpretation of an ancient rain dance, and that the beat of the drums were intended to give guests “that sensation of being something larger than yourself,” a fitting objective for a celebration of Mother Earth.

We at PeaceKeeper find Loomstate’s mission admirable!  The company, founded in New York in 2004, insists on using organic cotton in all its clothing, and enforces fair labor in its manufacturing.  Additionally, their clothing is made in factories that operate under the highest ethical and environmental standards, so you get gorgeous, comfortable duds for half the pollution and waste.

If you’d like to find out more about Loomstate and its mission, you can visit their website at www.loomstate.org.  Additionally, you could indulge in some eco-friendly beauty products of your own!  Why not try PeaceKeeper’s Paint Me Tranquil, a springy shade of light pink that’s 100% vegan?  Or our Eco-Sensual Lip Balm, also vegan and made with 73% organic ingredients?  Visit www.iamapeacekeeper.com to get gorgeous—the environmentally friendly way!

PeaceKeeper’s debut at Fashion Week

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Aren’t we so stylish?

PeaceKeeper’s very own Jody Weiss has been asked to participate in The Heartless Valentine’s Cocktail reception held by New York’s very own Vegan Queen. Don’t let the name fool you, it isn’t a bunch of single ladies drowning their sorrows on a very couples-centric holiday.  The Vegan Queen– as the name suggests, is the fashion line set up by Evelina Zdunczyk that is dedicated to haute couture without cruelty. The party benefits The International Fund for Animal Welfare’s Tails for Whales Project. PeaceKeepers debut at Fashion Week

IFAW will gather photos of New York City’s young and influential fashionistas (Way to go Jody!) with hands posed in the shape of a whale tail, aimed at bringing attention to the threats facing whales around the world including climate change, whaling, entanglement and other causes. For more information or to submit your own Whale Tail, please visit http://tailsforwhales.org/.

We’ll post the photos next week!

Peace,

Alice

Thanks for the Shout Out, ePolish Blog!

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

We’d like to send out a special thanks to Ms. Katee and her ePolish Blog for speaking oh-so-highly of our work here at PeaceKeeper. Here’s what the nail polish aficionado had to say about our products!

Today I am very excited to introduce you to a brand that is new to me and I am guessing it might be new to you too: PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics.

At the grocery store, I am all about everything organic. But when it comes to beauty products, I am not one to seek out organic, natural or vegan products. I don’t know why, but I have been operating under the assumption that these products would lack in quality; that there was a trade off for the organic ingredients. These nail polishes from PeaceKeeper, or should I say nail paints as they call them, has really changed my mind about that.
These nail polishes had a beautiful consistency, flowed nicely onto the nail and dried quickly. Absolutely no complaints about the formula of these nail polishes! Here are the colors that I tried:
PeaceKeeper Paint Me Luminous ( click the link here to see her photos!):
Thanks for the Shout Out, ePolish Blog!
Love this one! Frosty white base with iridescent multi-color glitter. This one is serious bling yet subtle at the same time.
PeaceKeeper Paint Me Forgiving:
Thanks for the Shout Out, ePolish Blog!
Pinkish nude with silver shimmer. I love this color because it is really natural looking and chic, yet it has a little something extra. I think this is one of my favorite nude colors to wear right now. My picture really does not do it justice.
PeaceKeeper Paint Me Stunning:
Thanks for the Shout Out, ePolish Blog!
I am not that into pinks but this is one of the prettiest ones in my collection. This color has a very luminous and almost etherial quality about it.
PeaceKeeper Paint Me Patient:
Thanks for the Shout Out, ePolish Blog!
Brownish nude shimmer. Another very chic, gorgeous color.
As I said before, I am super impressed with everything about these nail polishes – beautiful colors, flawless application and relatively quick dry time. The line does not make any crazy colors, but these are nice, wearable, and practical colors for everyday.
The comments on this blog post were great too! We love to hear that people not only think our mission is admirable, but our products are top notch too! I feel like PeaceKeeper needs to make a new color called Paint Me Proud– because that’s how I feel about working at this company. Proud. We can’t wait to hear what you think about our Eco-Easy Nail Polish Remover!
Peace,
Alice

Eco-Friendly Cosmetics

As Earth Day approaches and more companies strive to ‘go green’, PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics creates cosmetics that use natural, non-toxic ingredients for the well-being of the consumer and the environment.

Proven to reduce waste, pollution, and deforestation caused by mass animal consumption, vegan-ism is not only influencing dietary decisions but making an impression on the beauty industry as well. To be environmentally responsible, PeaceKeeper develops vegan-friendly products.

Eco-Sensual Lip Balm, which launched in 2007, is 73% organic and 100% vegan, containing natural ingredients to moisturize and heal. This year, PeaceKeeper will debut their newest vegan product, Eco-Sensual Nail Polish Remover, made from fermented corn and soy sugar.

Many manufactured ingredients deplete environmental resources. PeaceKeeper products are made with mineral-based and food-grade formulas that do not contain synthetic ingredients such as parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, acetone, toluene, mineral oil, FD&C colors, artificial fragrances and artificial preservatives. PeaceKeeper’s collection of Lip Paints, Nail Paints, Lip Glosses and vegan-friendly products promote a sustainable planet and healthy way of life. Now that’s Beautiful™.

About PeaceKeeper
