Dog Days of Summer

Friday, July 31st, 2009

We are knee deep in the heat, here in New York City.  The hot, steamy days of August are upon us, therefore so is the looming Fall.  Are you asking youself the same question we are: “Where did Summer go?!?”  It seems like just yesterday was the First Day of Summer and we were embracing the warm weather.  We have had a jam-packed Summer of excitement around here.  PeaceKeeper just came back from a super successful trip to Las Vegas for the Cosmo Prof Trade Show.  We made many great new friends and enjoyed spending the weekend with some of our grand ol’ buddies.  It was delightful and rejuvinating, getting to meld minds with some of the great geniuses in the field and we are very excited about upcoming PeaceKeeper news!  We can’t share too much just yet, but make sure you keep one eye on us and both of them peeled for new and wonderful things coming soon from your friends at PeaceKeeper!

You like us…you really like us!

We are a very blessed little company.  PeaceKeeper is so grateful everytime someone raves about our products.

cybelesays is a not your average beauty blog.  Her philosophy is short and sweet, “We feature products we’ve tried, loved, and like a good girl, want to share with you; our friends. From big companies or small ones, we don’t care as long as they are good. Because we are just like you, an everyday girl who just happens to love learning and trying out new products.”

Sounds just like PeaceKeeper!  We love the earth and we love beauty.  Keep it simple!  Let’s squish them together and make something magical.  Let’s try to save Mother Earth while saving mothers, sisters, nieces, aunts, and grandmothers all across the world.

www.cybelesays.com reviewed our Perfect As Is Lip Balm as a must-have new product for this summer.  Thank you, Cybel!!  We feel that you have the must-read blog for the summer!

We couldn’t say it better, List Maven!

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Yet another blogger is just as excited about our products as we are! Mary Jo Manzanares, a List Maven from Splendicity.com Here’s what she had to say:

  1. 5 Great Products at Great Prices – Natural lip balms, natural lipsticks

, natural lip gloss, natural nail polish, and eco-easy nail polish remover.  Prices you can afford.

  2. FREE Shipping – Anywhere in the United States.
  3. No animal testing – Not only is animal testing verboten, but there are vegan products as well.
  4. Fair Wages – Peacekeepers believes in fair pay for fair work.  No matter where the workers are.  The company does not employee children, nor do business with any other company that exploits workers.  This commitment is monitored by leading agencies in the field.
  5. Ethical – Truth is power, and Peacekeepers always speaks the truth about its company, products, and the standards they commit to.

Thanks for the Shout Out, ePolish Blog!

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

We’d like to send out a special thanks to Ms. Katee and her ePolish Blog for speaking oh-so-highly of our work here at PeaceKeeper. Here’s what the nail polish aficionado had to say about our products!

Today I am very excited to introduce you to a brand that is new to me and I am guessing it might be new to you too: PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics.

At the grocery store, I am all about everything organic. But when it comes to beauty products, I am not one to seek out organic, natural or vegan products. I don’t know why, but I have been operating under the assumption that these products would lack in quality; that there was a trade off for the organic ingredients. These nail polishes from PeaceKeeper, or should I say nail paints as they call them, has really changed my mind about that.
These nail polishes had a beautiful consistency, flowed nicely onto the nail and dried quickly. Absolutely no complaints about the formula of these nail polishes! Here are the colors that I tried:
PeaceKeeper Paint Me Luminous ( click the link here to see her photos!):
Thanks for the Shout Out, ePolish Blog!
Love this one! Frosty white base with iridescent multi-color glitter. This one is serious bling yet subtle at the same time.
PeaceKeeper Paint Me Forgiving:
Thanks for the Shout Out, ePolish Blog!
Pinkish nude with silver shimmer. I love this color because it is really natural looking and chic, yet it has a little something extra. I think this is one of my favorite nude colors to wear right now. My picture really does not do it justice.
PeaceKeeper Paint Me Stunning:
Thanks for the Shout Out, ePolish Blog!
I am not that into pinks but this is one of the prettiest ones in my collection. This color has a very luminous and almost etherial quality about it.
PeaceKeeper Paint Me Patient:
Thanks for the Shout Out, ePolish Blog!
Brownish nude shimmer. Another very chic, gorgeous color.
As I said before, I am super impressed with everything about these nail polishes – beautiful colors, flawless application and relatively quick dry time. The line does not make any crazy colors, but these are nice, wearable, and practical colors for everyday.
The comments on this blog post were great too! We love to hear that people not only think our mission is admirable, but our products are top notch too! I feel like PeaceKeeper needs to make a new color called Paint Me Proud– because that’s how I feel about working at this company. Proud. We can’t wait to hear what you think about our Eco-Easy Nail Polish Remover!
Peace,
Alice

Your Money at Work!

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Have you ever wondered where your money goes when you purchase your Eco-Sensual Lip Balm or purple Grateful nail polish? Well PeaceKeeper and Freedom From Hunger are proud to present Ghana’s very own HealthKeepers!

Freedom From Hunger is an international NGO that works designs programs to address the needs of individual countries to combat poverty. Typical of Western Africa, Ghana is known for its lack of infrastructure, high poverty rates as well as widespread transmission of preventable diseases. HealthKeepers is a program designed to empower female entrepreneurs and provide rural areas with life-saving products and health information. The HealthKeeper program works with microfinancing, but with an important twist. Freedom From Hunger makes Health baskets with important hygiene products, malaria nets, insect repellent, and trains “HealthKeepers” so they can educate their customers.

I’ll be posting their stories for you throughout the next few months.

Peace,

Alice

Review: PeaceKeeper Cause-metics

PeaceKeeper Cause-metics is not just another natural mineral makeup company. They are the first cosmetics line to donate all their after tax profits to women’s health advocacy and urgent human rights issues. Their approach is unique as they use our consumer buying power to raise funds and awareness. With a purchase, YOU make a direct contribution to helping women around the world. Finally, have your cake and eat it too with the help of PeaceKeeper. Please check out the video below for more information about PeaceKeeper Cause-metics.

I have an all natural, lipstick in Paint Me Healed. It applies creamy and is extremely moisturizing as it contains shea butter and jojoba oil. I even had slightly chapped lips and the moisturizing formula healed some of it. I’ve never tried mineral lipstick and I was thinking it might not be so pigmented, but this is very pigmented! The color is very vibrant and surprisingly long lasting. There is no scent or flavor, which I prefer in a lipstick. Paint Me Healed is a gorgeous matte coral shade. The color looked dark, but applies a bit lighter than it appears. PeaceKeeper offers a total of 12 beautiful shades to choose from for $16.50 each.

Blog of the Week: bella cupcake

I also have a mineral lip gloss in Eternal Equity, named after an organization PeaceKeeper donates to. It comes in a standard tube with a doe-foot applicator. This gloss is completely non-sticky, which I absolutely love! You can apply it liberally and it will never feel sticky. It has a very slick and creamy texture. Similar to the lipstick, it’s made with moisturizing ingredients and kept my lips hydrated. The gloss has light sweet vanilla, sugar cookie essence scent with no flavor. It’s not very pigmented, but just enough to leave a noticeable amount of color. The formula itself makes for a shiny gloss, but it also contains a subtle shimmer. Eternal Equity is a deep pink, mauve shade with gold shimmer. I’ve now tried several mineral glosses and I have to say that I really like the formulas, because they provide non-sticky shine. At $16.50 each, you’ll be making a helpful contribution as well giving your lips some much deserved loving.

PeaceKeeper even has a lip balm, called Eco-Sensual. It’s not just your average chapstick. It’s 100% natural, 100% vegan, and 73% organic! It comes in a standard twisty tube, which I like. Lately, I’ve noticed balms come in jars and I just don’t like using my finger for it. Plus, sticks are smaller and take up less room in my already crowded purse. It glides on to keep your lips thoroughly moisturized and chap-free. It has a slightly methylated feeling because it contains spearmint oil. It actually feels refreshing! I don’t know how to describe it. It’s just very soothing. The scent reminds of Wrigley’s chewing gum because of the spearmint, but it’s very mild. If you have severe dried lips, this should heal ‘em right up! This is a Self Magazine reader favorite product, so you know it’s gotta be good. Snatch some up for only $3.18 for a stick!

Blog of the Week: bella cupcake

Lastly, they even have natural nail polish! These are mineral based lacquers that are densely nutritious with amino acids for healthy nails. They apply creamy and smooth. They dry fairly quickly and so far have minimal chipping. My shade in Paint Me Forgiving looks like dark pink, mauve with shimmer in the bottle. When applied, it’s more of a light pink, nude shade with shimmer. It reminds me of the word “seashell,” just a pretty nudy pink. It may be my particular shade, but you might have to do a few coats to get the color to show. Mind you, I naturally have very white tips so I always have to do extra coats. Also, in the picture, I quickly did 2 thin coats and if you don’t have very white tips like me, the color should be decently pigmented for you. These nontoxic, vegan friend nail colors are available for $12 a bottle.

I urge you to check PeaceKeeper Cause-metics out! Not only are their all natural products great, their mission to do goodwill is even better. Please support PeaceKeeper Cause-metics, make a contribution, and spread the word!

Eco-Friendly Cosmetics

As Earth Day approaches and more companies strive to ‘go green’, PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics creates cosmetics that use natural, non-toxic ingredients for the well-being of the consumer and the environment.

Proven to reduce waste, pollution, and deforestation caused by mass animal consumption, vegan-ism is not only influencing dietary decisions but making an impression on the beauty industry as well. To be environmentally responsible, PeaceKeeper develops vegan-friendly products.

Eco-Sensual Lip Balm, which launched in 2007, is 73% organic and 100% vegan, containing natural ingredients to moisturize and heal. This year, PeaceKeeper will debut their newest vegan product, Eco-Sensual Nail Polish Remover, made from fermented corn and soy sugar.

Many manufactured ingredients deplete environmental resources. PeaceKeeper products are made with mineral-based and food-grade formulas that do not contain synthetic ingredients such as parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, acetone, toluene, mineral oil, FD&C colors, artificial fragrances and artificial preservatives. PeaceKeeper’s collection of Lip Paints, Nail Paints, Lip Glosses and vegan-friendly products promote a sustainable planet and healthy way of life. Now that’s Beautiful™.

About PeaceKeeper

What Does Make-up Mean to You?

Friday, March 28th, 2008

More from our friend Jen. Tell us what you think:

Who am I?

I am a holistic esthetician/makeup artist who has been working in the beauty industry for ten years. I have been a licensed esthetician for eight years and began specializing in natural skincare and cosmetics about six years ago.
After the birth of my twin boys two years ago I became self-employed and now do mostly freelance makeup, skincare education and product representation. I hope to have a private facial practice again once my boys are a little older.
My skincare blog is here: www.skinrhythm.blogspot.com

**I have been told before that what I do for a living is shallow, superficial and un-feminist. I’ve always disagreed. There is nothing wrong with wanting to face the world looking your very best, healthy and beautiful.
As a makeup artist and esthetician it is my job to help women look the very best version of themselves and it is an honor to be trusted to touch someone’s face.
Everyone I’ve ever met has a love-hate relationship with their appearance and despite all the staring into the mirror; they often don’t see their own best features. It is great to tell someone they have lovely eyelashes or great bone structure or beautiful lips and see the look of surprise on their face.
“Me? They say? No…” But it’s true. They just can’t see past their flaws and see the good things that everyone else can see.
I am a Peacekeeper Cause-metics demonstrator which means that I get the chance to not only educate people on all of the wonderful causes PK supports but also help them choose the right color.
I find that the products tend to look slightly different in the tubes than they do on the lips so whenever possible I apply the colors for them. (After sanitizing the products and using a fresh disposable applicator)
Everyone is always amazed when they learn that 100% of after-tax profits are donated to human-rights issues. Like me, they thought they would get around to donating money to causes they believed in at some point…when they had more money. And also like me, they spend money several times a year to purchase new cosmetics.

With Peacekeeper, you can do both. Indulge your girly side and your activist side and know that they are both important and worthwhile.
